Confirm the failed compressor

Request vent-temperature data, pressures interpreted with ambient conditions, compressor command and engagement, clutch or control-valve testing, belt inspection, electrical checks, and leak evidence. The estimate should state whether the compressor is seized, internally damaged, leaking, or simply not being commanded. If the system was opened, ask whether the shop found metal debris, desiccant, or contamination. A “compressor” code or noisy pulley does not automatically establish an internal failure.

Handoff and comparison

If another component is retained despite a contamination concern, have the shop explain that decision and any coverage exclusion before work begins. A warranty condition should be visible in the proposal, not discovered after a later failure.
