Jeep Wrangler Transfer-Case Service: OCD Offroad’s $50 Line

Use OCD Offroad’s $50 transfer-case service line as a scope check, then separate it from axle and transmission fluid work.

By How we research prices

A US Jeep and off-road specialist, OCD Offroad in Stafford, Virginia, publishes $50 for transfer-case fluid service on its a-la-carte maintenance menu. The same page excludes parts and fluids. Its a-la-carte heading says shop supplies and environmental fees are included, but a later footer says they are extra; get that conflict resolved on the written quote. This is a useful starting line for the transfer case only; it is not a complete Wrangler “4x4 fluid package.” OCD Offroad’s service page identifies the Stafford shop, and its maintenance menu lists the $50 service and exclusions.

Jeep’s US 2018 Wrangler JK owner manual describes the transfer-case level as the bottom edge of the fill hole with the vehicle level, calls for the manufacturer-recommended lubricant, and describes separate drain and fill plugs. The US Mopar owner manual supplies the vehicle-side specification context; it does not set a shop price.

Line item Published price Scope or exclusion
OCD Offroad transfer-case fluid service $50 Parts and fluids excluded; conflicting fee wording needs confirmation
OCD Offroad differential gear-oil service $50 per axle with drain; $90 without A separate axle operation, not the transfer case
OCD Offroad Trail Hero package $750 per year Includes one transfer-case service plus other inspections, driveline work and fluids excluded

The $50 transfer-case line and $50 differential-with-drain line happen to match, but they are separate housings and cannot be combined into a $100 “transfer-case price.” If a shop recommends front and rear differential work, ask for each axle, fluid, drain-plug condition, and fee. The annual packages separately use a $30 no-drain-plug adjustment. That package footnote should not replace the a-la-carte $90 no-drain axle price or be added to the transfer-case service.

For a different Wrangler year or drivetrain, confirm the lubricant and fill procedure against that vehicle’s US manual. The JK manual is not evidence for every JL or 4xe configuration. Ask the shop to show the transfer case, exact fluid specification, fluid quantity, labor, parts, fees and tax as separate lines. A $50 advertised service with the fluids omitted cannot be treated as an out-the-door total.

Use the OCD price as a named Stafford provider example and scope check. It is not a national average, dealer quote, or guarantee that every Wrangler takes the same fluid.
