Dallas Oversize Brush and Bulky Pickup Fees Explained
Dallas includes routine brush and bulky collection but bills non-compliant setouts at $60 per 5 cubic yards.
Dallas residential brush and bulky collection is included in the monthly service fee within program limits. The city allows up to 10 cubic yards monthly and one annual oversize collection of up to 20 cubic yards when the request is submitted on time. Dallas says an oversize or non-compliant setout is billed at $60 per 5 cubic yards, in 5-cubic-yard increments. Dallas’s collection page states the limit and fee.
That creates a practical hypothetical worksheet for a billed setout: 1–5 cubic yards is $60, 6–10 is $120, and 11–15 is $180. The charge is volume-banded, not a precise per-cubic-yard invoice. Those bands illustrate the schedule; they do not say how the city will classify a particular pile or whether an allowance offsets a charge.
The annual 20-cubic-yard exception can prevent that fee, but the request must be submitted during the week before the collection week and cannot be cancelled once submitted. Place brush and bulky material just behind the curb in front of the home. Items across an alley, on a side yard, or outside accepted categories can trigger enforcement as well as billing.
If Dallas bills the account, its dispute process asks for documentation; unfamiliarity with the rules is not listed as a valid reason by itself. Photograph the pile and placement before collection, save the service request, and compare the billed volume with the 5-cubic-yard increments. This is a city program charge checked September 8, 2026; it does not price a private junk-removal truck.
The dispute page is useful when the charge is tied to a non-compliant setout rather than a normal scheduled brush collection. Save a photo, collection date, and notice, then ask the department to identify the measured cubic-yard band. That produces a reviewable question without assuming that a partial band is billed proportionally.
